Get Fit with PoundFit

When trying to lose weight, we have learned that there are three keys to success: managing your food intake/nutrition; changing your behavior in regard to food; and exercise, exercise, exercise. 

The Pounds Off Pulaski (POP) meeting for Monday, March 5, will focus on exercise.

There are all types of exercises to help lose weight and get healthier. Monday night’s speaker, Loretta Mounce, will teach POP participants PoundFit – an exercise that incorporates using drum sticks and combines cardio, conditioning and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements.   

POP Weigh-ins begin at 5:00 and the program will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Conference Center on the basement level of the East Tower. 

Loretta is an AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor and Group Fitness Director at Get Fit Athletic Clubs. She has a master’s degree in physical education from Western Kentucky University with a minor in Leadership Studies. She also does worksite wellness programs and life coaching through Wellness Alliance and organizes an annual Fitness and Wellness Expo in Somerset.

Loretta is certified to teach various group fitness classes such as kickboxing, PoundFit, Zumba, Strong by Zumba, yoga, pilates, Kettelbell AMPD, Silver Sneakers, resistance training, and cycling.

Pounds Off Pulaski is a 12-week county-wide weight loss challenge sponsored by Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.  Participants may weigh in beginning at 5:00 p.m. each Monday evening prior to the meeting. 

At the end of the challenge, the male and female who have the highest percentage of weight loss will win $500 each.  The second place male and female will be awarded $300.
