Rehabilitation ServicesRehabilitation services within the hospital are comprised of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Each discipline provide services in acute care, long term care unit, and on an outpatient basis. The hospital also has a 18 bed rehab unit which has its own staff of rehabilitaion therapists. Treatment is rendered to all individuals of all ages by referral of a medical doctor.
Rehabilitation is individualized for each patient depending upon the needs of the patient and the scope of treatment approved by the referring physician. Inpatient care is coordinated through a multidisciplinary approach throughout the other departments involved in the care of each patient.
Physical TherapyPhysical Therapy uses modalities of heat, cold, electricity, water, sound, massage, thrapeutic excercise, patient and family education to maintain or improve physical functional abilities, alleviation of pain and barriers to the healing process. Treatment is rendered to patients of all ages by referral of a medical doctor.
Occupational Therapy provides the opportunity to acquire skills or compnsatory techniques through activities of daily living retraining, adaptive equipment training, improving fine motor skills, and splint fabrication. Emphasis is placed on promoting functional independence of each patient with referral by a medical doctor.
Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital offers rehabilitation of the hand provided by its team of occupational therapists. Common injuries referred to these medical professionals include fracture involving the hand and wrist, bone, and joint replacements, contractures, tendon, and ligament repairs, arthritis, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Evaluation and treatment is provided to patients of all ages with treatment plans tailored to the individual needs of the patients.
Speech Therapy evaluates and treats disorders involving cognitive and motor disabilities of speech, swallowing, and communication of patients up the referral of a medical doctor. Speech Therapists also develop supplementary language systems through augmentative and alternate communication devices.

Rehab Services are available on an outpatient basis Monday through Friday with weekend coverage based on the individual needs of the patient. General hours of operation are 8a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Inpatient care is provided based on a therapy plan of care and the individual needs of the patient.
