Exploring Ways to Get Fit at POP Meeting Monday, March 14

The Pounds Off Pulaski (POP) meeting for the Monday, March 14, features several instructors from our community partner, Somerset Family Fitness Center (SFFC), who will help us explore many exciting opportunities to get more fit. 

The POP meeting will be held in the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Conference Center on the basement level of the East Tower.  Weigh-ins begin at 5:00 p.m. with the program to follow at 6:00 p.m.

Special guest speakers for the evening include: Sherrye Tucker, certified yoga instructor, Michelle Gambill, certified Pilates instructor, and Peggy Ayres, Somerset Family Fitness Executive Director. 

Did you ever think about trying yoga?  Yoga is an endeavor to harmonize one’s body, mind and spirit. It is also helps you gain flexibility and strength and improve balance. Instructor, Sherrye Tucker, will provide some great information about the many benefits of Yoga, and will POP participants the opportunity to try out some of the yoga positions.

Michelle Gambill, certified Pilates instructor, will discuss Pilates Reformer – a method of exercise known for its development of long, lean, balance musculature and its use in rehabilitating low back, shoulders, knees and necks.

Other exercise programs to be addressed include Core and Toning with weights, which includes intense Pilates-style core work followed by a quick, intense total body workout with weights and dumbbells and 20/20/20 – a class that combines Cardio, Mat Pilates and Yoga.

Pounds Off Pulaski is a 12-week county-wide weight loss challenge sponsored by Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.  This year’s challenge is nearing the end, with one more regular program scheduled for March 21 and the final weigh-in on Monday, March 28.

The top two males and females who have lost highest percentage of body weight (and who certify they have met the criteria as listed on the registration form) will be declared the winners. 

First place male and female winners will receive $500 each and second place male and female winners will receive $300 each. In the event of a tie, the prize money will be divided.
